Anusara Yoga® Immersion

At Lakshmi with Certified Anusara yoga teachers Amy Abelson and Denise Hatch

A dive in to yoga philosophy, history and practice for any student or aspiring teacher!

This course fulfills 100 hours of Yoga Alliance training.

Anusara Yoga Immersion Dates: TBA

The Anusara Yoga Immersion is open to ALL students and teachers of yoga and is a complete study of the philosophy, history and practices of Anusara yoga.  It is the first step towards Anusara Yoga Teacher credentials, and can also be taken as an independent self- study for any spiritual seeker or student of any yogic path. The immersion series examines the physical practices of Anusara as well as the philosophical underpinnings of this yogic school. It is a 100-hour program, available as 3 sections. You may sign up for just one or take all three consecutively.

These courses not only offer an opportunity to deepen your physical practice, but to explore the transformative and healing power of engagement with body, mind and heart.  Many students enter the immersions in times of upheaval or transition, bound to reconnect with their deepest desires. The winter in upstate New York is a natural time to turn inward and relish the introspection of yogic practice.

Immersion I

This introductory session covers the first Anusara syllabus of poses, the 5 principles of alignment, gives an overview of Tantric philosophy, and asks the ultimate questions: Who am I really and what do I truly want?  How do I want to live?  What do I love? Through physical practice, philosophical inquiry and contemplation our immersion group will collectively dive in to the heart of the Anusara tradition.

Immersion II

Immersion II deepens the contemplation of self, along with physical practice, and begins to explore the poses of syllabus II (all students will be encouraged to honor and respect their bodies and all limitations will be considered and supported).  We explore Patanjali’s yoga sutras and the context of tantric yoga within the classical yoga tradition.

Immersion III

The third immersion dives into the Bhagavad Gita, a pivotal Hindu and yogic text. Experience a new relationship to your body in the positive wake of Immersion I and II. A playful and exploratory conclusion to the series, the third immersion shines the light of the heart so that you may bask in the fruits of your practice!
